Souza Media: When the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series heads to New London-Waterford Speedbowl for the first time since 2016, many of the top stars in Modified racing are planning to compete for the big prize.
On Saturday, August 6, teams will head to the Shoreline oval for the Belltown Motors/Fowler’s Auto Wrecking 100 presented by CBYD 811. With a large field expected and a strong purse to cover the entire field, it’s shaping up to be one of the biggest races in the history of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series, and race fans are going to be there to support one of the biggest races at the Speedbowl in recent memory.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and NASCAR Xfinity Series winner Ryan Preece, seven-time Waterford SK Modified champion Keith Rocco, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour points leader Ron Silk and former Whelen Modified Tour champion Todd Szegedy are just part of the early list of invaders.
Preece, who has a Camping World Truck Series win with David Gilliland Racing this season, will continue his return to the grassroots Modified division to compete in the special event. Rocco, who spends most of his time competing in the SK Modified division at Stafford Motor Speedway these days, is a proven Waterford winner and champion, and will be in contention to win the 100-lap race. Silk will take a break from his Whelen Modified Tour championship effort to compete with Bob Horn in the Waterford event, driving the No. 85.
Mike Christopher Jr., a former winner at the Speedbowl, is also entering to compete in the race for Tommy Baldwin Racing. Driving the famed No. 7NY, Christopher will look to add yet another win to what has been a dominant season for the Baldwin Racing team, including victories on the Whelen Modified Tour and various Open Modified events in the region.
Add young gun Andrew Molleur, who has a Waterford SK Modified Victory Lane appearance in his history, driving for the famed Boehler Racing family in the No. 3. As another driver who cut his teeth and grew up at Waterford, Molleur will look for what would be the biggest win of his career in the 100-lap event. Timmy Solomito will enter the race driving for his family in the No. 66, while defending Waterford Speedbowl and Stafford Motor Speedway SK Modified champion Todd Owen will also compete in his own No. 81.
Driving for John Hummel, historic Modified personality Ed Flemke Jr., has entered, along with Craig Lutz, who will help car owner Jimmy Paige bring out the No. 00 machine for the first time in over nine months for race action.
Additional names entered for the race include those invested in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series championship battle, as the train continues at Waterford with just three races to go in the 2022 season. Matt Hirschman leads Chase Dowling by just five points, with Ronnie Williams 15 out in third.
Additional Tri-Track regulars to watch include Matt Swanson, Woody Pitkat, Sam Rameau, Kirk Alexander, Chris Pasteryak, Les Hinckley and others. Pitkat will look to follow-up his second-place finish at Star with car owner Doug Dunleavy.

Tickets will be available at the track on race day. Grandstand passes are $30 for adults, while youth will enter for $15, aged 6-12. Kids five and under are free. All pit passes are $50 for adults and those 5 and under will be free.
