From a Long-time Rival to Driver…

Not so long ago, the deep-seated rivalry between the late Teddy Christopher, driver of the No. 13 SK Modified, and Keith Rocco, driver of the No. 57 SK Modified, was no secret as they battled week in and week out for a coveted trip to victory lane.

That old rivalry looks to be ancient history, as a turn of events late this week forced the Prestige Motorsports team owner Doug DiPisa searching to fill the open seat in the No. 13 car left by Austin Beers fulfilling commitments at Lancaster.

Wanting only a driver capable of a return trip to Victory Lane, Doug offered the ride to none other than Keith Rocco. More than up to the challenge, Keith will wheel the Oak Ridge sponsored No. 13 in the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series Belltown Motors/Fowler’s Auto Wrecking 100 at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl tomorrow – Saturday, August 12.

When was asked for his thoughts on the pairing, Keith stated: “It was cool to be offered the opportunity, especially after being rivals for over a decade. They were fun guys to race against and it will be interesting to see what it will be like to be on the other side, in their driver’s seat.”

Doug’s response to Keith’s acceptance was one of relief and excitement. “I was bummed after hearing Austin couldn’t take the seat this weekend, as he’s done a great job for us thus far this season. Having Keith drive for us after a decade of rivalry will be fun. Keith’s dad, Ronnie Rocco, ran the No. 13 during his racing career, so it’s an even bigger incentive to park the car in victory lane,” Doug explained.

Look for Austin Beers to return to the No. 13 for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series’ next event – Stafford Motor Speedway’s Fall Final.
