The purse for the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series portion of Seekonk’s annual Open Wheel Wednesday event – currently at $80,150 – has been released by Series officials. The breakdown (revised 6/14/24) is as follows (*the 11th and 12th place bump is in honor of Vinny’s car numbers):
Open Wheel Wednesday Payout Boost in Honor of Vinny Annarummo
Management of the Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series will double the winner’s share for the event – making the race $20,000 to win – as part of a $28,000 overall increase in the purse for the event in honor of legendary Seekonk competitor Vinny Annarumo. Annarummo, a 2019 inductee to the New England Racers Hall of Fame, passed away in February at 74 years old.
“I can’t believe it,” Kopcik said. “I can’t believe it. … This is the best series going right now. … It’s awesome. I’ve never driven here before so this is a special win.”
The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series opens its 11th season on Sunday at Thunder Road. The season was originally supposed to begin on April 6 at Thompson Speedway as part of Icebreaker weekend, but weather issues forced the postponement of the Constantine Paving & Sealing 75 at Thompson. That event will now be run on Oct. 11 as part of the Sunoco World Series weekend at Thompson.
