Respected veteran race official Bill Long is named to the newly created position of Head of Racing Operations for the Monaco Modified Series.
Long, well known in racing circles, brings over four decades of leadership and modified race-officiating experience to the position, having served as Vice President of Racing Operations at Stafford Motor Speedway; Chief Starter at Thompson, Stafford, Waterford and Riverside Park; Race Director at the New London/Waterford Speed Bowl; and as Chief Handicapper and Scorer at Utica/Rome Speedway. Long also served as Vice President of Marketing for the IndyCar Series, headquartered in Indianapolis, and as a corporate officer for NASCAR’s Weekly Racing Series and Touring Divisions, headquartered in Daytona.
“We are excited to bring Bill’s experience and passion for modified racing to the Monaco Modified team,” said Renee Dupuis, Director of Series Development. “In this role, Bill will work as a liaison with track owners, promoters, drivers, teams, and the Monaco Modified Series to deliver a great product for fans and sponsors.”
Long is also well known in the Automotive industry, leading Echlin, Inc.’s billion-dollar Engine Management Division. More recently, Long served as the president and CEO of MEMA, The Vehicle Suppliers Association, headquartered in Washington, DC.
Long currently serves on the Board of the Global Automotive Hall of Fame and the Center of Automotive Research (CAR). Long is a recipient of the Jack Arute Sr. Award of Excellence – for meritorious and dedication to motorsports.
