WATERFORD, Conn. — September 6, 2026 — Matt Hirschman completed a clean sweep of the Monaco Modified Series’ 2026 visits to the New London-Waterford Speedbowl Sunday afternoon, taking home the victory in the Monaco Modified 100, along with a $10,000 payday.
Hirschman’s trip to Sign Pro Victory Lane made him two-for-two at Waterford this season after also capturing the series’ June 13 event at the Speedbowl.
Behind Hirschman, the championship contenders continued their season-long battle. Jon McKennedy crossed the line second, followed by Ron Silk, Ronnie Williams, and Matt Swanson rounding out the top five.
In addition to the $10,000 winner’s share, Hirschman collected the $250 Constantine Paving & Sealing Most Laps Led Award and a $500 gift card from Creative Racing Products.
Chris Pasteryak charged through the field to earn the $500 Van Horst General Contractors Hard Charger Award.
With Waterford now in the books, the battle for the $50,000 Union Insurance Group/USNEPower Points Championship remains incredibly tight as the Monaco Modified Series heads into the final stretch of the season.
McKennedy leaves Waterford atop the standings, but there is little room for error. Silk and Williams are tied for second, each just nine points behind McKennedy, setting the stage for a dramatic championship fight as the calendar turns toward fall.
And the next stop couldn’t come at a more fitting event.
The Monaco Modified Series will next take center stage at one of New England short-track racing’s most storied events, headlining the iconic NAPA Fall Final on Saturday, September 26 at Stafford Motor Speedway.
With the championship contenders separated by just nine points and one of the region’s biggest races awaiting, the road to the 2026 Monaco Modified Series championship is only getting more intense.
