The off-season is over. It’s time to go racing!
The Monaco Modified Tri-Track Series roars back to life on Saturday, April 11, 2026, as part of the 52nd annual Icebreaker at Thompson Speedway Motorsports Park (Thompson, CT) — a can’t-miss tradition that signals the official start of racing season across southern New England.
Headlining Saturday’s racing card is the return of the 75-lap Propane Plus Heating & Cooling 75, boasting a $10,000 winner’s purse. Now in its second year of partnership, Propane Plus Heating & Cooling returns as a key supporter of one of the region’s most anticipated early-season showdowns. Be on the lookout for Propane Man prowling the midway!
The Icebreaker marks race one of nine (and the first of two visits to Thompson), on the 2026 Monaco Modified schedule, setting the tone for what promises to be one of the most competitive seasons in Series history.
And if the entry list is any indication, fans are in for a show. A stacked 33-car field loaded with talent, proven winners, and rising stars is set to roll onto the high-banked 5/8th-mile oval, promising tight racing, high stakes, and no shortage of storylines when the green flag drops – including defending race winner Ron Silk, who returns in his HYR ride looking to open the season the same way he closed the last Icebreaker: in Sign Pro Victory Lane.
Adding even more intensity to the championship chase, the Series recently announced a $50,000 season-long point fund, backed by USNEPower and Union Insurance Group — the first official point fund in Monaco Modified Series history. Also in play is the USNEPower Energizer Zone bonus, awarding $2,000 to the team that spends the most weeks inside the top five in the standings — rewarding consistency over the full season.
Off the track, 2026 brings an exciting new addition for the next generation of fans. The Monaco Modified Kids’ Club presented by Mr. Rooter launches this season as a family-friendly program designed to bring young fans closer to the action. Open to children 12 and under, the Kids’ Club offers a Membership package, exclusive giveaways, and interactive activities throughout the year. The Kids’ Club is FREE to join and Parents and guardians can register their children by visiting: MonacoModifieds.com/kids-club. The program is made possible thanks to the generous support of Vinny Beedle and Mr. Rooter, continuing a strong commitment to growing the sport at the grassroots level.
For those who can’t make it out to the track, Saturday’s event will be live-streamed on the North East Short Track Network. Details are available on NESTN.tv.
With a marquee event, increased stakes, and new fan engagement initiatives, all signs point to a high-energy start to the 2026 Monaco Modified Series season.
The wait is over — the Propane Plus Heating & Cooling 75 at the Icebreaker is here!
