One of the most memorable moments of Saturday night’s Monaco Modified Series event at the New London-Waterford Speedbowl took place before a single lap was turned.
During the pre-race drivers’ meeting, the Monaco Modified Series proudly honored the Pasteryak family for celebrating an incredible milestone — 50 years in Modified racing.
Series announcer Ben Dodge delivered a heartfelt tribute to the Pasteryak family before presenting them with a commemorative plaque recognizing five decades of dedication, passion, and contributions to Modified racing. The plaque featured the iconic black No. 75 Modified driven by family patriarch Carl Pasteryak, whose legacy continues to resonate throughout the racing community following his passing in 2021.
Charlie Pasteryak, Chris Pasteryak, and Chris’ entire race team were joined by Rose Pasteryak, who was a constant presence throughout Carl’s racing career and continues to support the family’s racing efforts today. Together, they represent decades of racing passion and commitment, creating a powerful display of family, friendship, and tradition. As competitors, officials, crew members, and fellow racers looked on, the ceremony became one of the evening’s most meaningful moments, celebrating not only a 50-year milestone but the enduring legacy of a family whose roots run deep in Modified racing.
“Half a century in this sport is no small accomplishment,” said Renee Dupuis, Monaco Modified Director of Series Development. “Families like the Pasteryaks are the foundation of short-track racing, and it was important for us to recognize their commitment, while celebrating this milestone with them.”
The Monaco Modified Series is proud to recognize and celebrate the Pasteryak family for their remarkable 50-year journey and their enduring contributions to the sport they have helped shape.
Congratulations to the Pasteryak family on this extraordinary milestone.
